Graven Images Oracle ReadingCard #1: Root of the Question
Torch (Physical #8)
The torch advises that there is anger and resentment simmering at the root of the question. They may have their basis in older situations; ones where it was assumed that all the embers had died. Take note: such feelings can enflame others. To the extreme, torch can harken to mob rule, but generally indicates old hostilities influencing others in the current situation. The source of the flames needs to be discovered (whether in yourself or others) and doused before real progress can be achieved. Top Card #2: Immediate Past
Portrait (Mental #9)
Portrait is the shadow of Reflection. It harkens to the inability to see anything but your own opinion. It indicates being locked in a one-dimensional view of the situation. This can stifle compromise, bring negotiations to a halt, and ultimately result in alienation. Portrait is self centered and self-absorbed. Can also mean narcisism in extreme settings. Without broadening your views, failure is unavoidable. Top Card #3: Immediate Future
Mourner (Mental #10)
This is a card of genuine loss. You may have experienced the loss of a loved one, or even the loss of a dream. While it is expected and natural to experience grief, it should not be allowed to swamp all other emotions and impede your path. There is a need to accept loss as a part of our earthly existence. Mourn, but move on. Do not allow sorrow to become overwhelming. Taken to extremes, it can cause you to lose your way. Top Card #4: Outside Forces
Border (Mental #14)
Border symbolizes what appears to be a dead end, but what in reality is a mental, physical or spiritual illusion. You may feel helpless to advance any further in the current situation due to opposition, difficulties, or unforeseen changes. In actuality this barrier is not as unbreechable or insurmountable as you think. What is called for is a temporary falling back, and a re-focusing. You need to see the gaps between the stones by addressing one obstacle at a time. Be inventive. If you cannot go through the border or over it, perhaps there is a way around or under the perimeter. Top Card #5: Hopes and Fears.
Memory (Social #6)
Memory is a card of nostalgia. It is a looking back over the road taken, or reviewing your past in general. This could be for inspiration or recreation (a little 'trip down memory lane'). The card could also be one of reunion, seeing old friends and past comrades. The only caution is this: do not get trapped in the past. Although it is perfectly acceptable to dream, you must ultimately return to daily reality and travel on. Memory is a necessary and well-deserved side trip, one which renews and gives perspective. Top Card #6: Final Outcome
As Above (Social #7)
Completion. After toil, strife, joy, and setbacks your work, or participation in the situation, is now drawing to a close. The time has come to tally up the lessons learned, evaluate your behavior and actions, and get ready for the next cycle, the next project or adventure. What you learn about yourself now becomes the groundwork for the future. Top Images are pixiliated to protect copyright. Limited edition prints of all card images are available.
